Obituary of Richard M. Spissell

Richard M. Spissell, 85, of National Park, New Jersey, and formerly of Clarksboro, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Legacy

He was a loving and caring father, Gramps, Great Gramps, uncle and friend. He loved to be around his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed going to breakfasts with numerous friends and the "West End Gang." Born in Camden on March 23,1938 and raised in Woodbury, he received an Eagle Scout Honor and was a graduate of Woodbury High School, Class of 1956. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960, stationed in Germany, and subsequently earned his Associate’s Degree from Gloucester County College. He enjoyed anything history, especially the Civil War. An avid Philly Sports Fan, he enjoyed watching all the games. He worked from Mobil Research in Paulsboro, NJ for 33 years and retired in 1995.

Family

He is the beloved husband of 40 wonderful years to the late Joan Spissell (nee Renard). Devoted father of Richard Spissell (Tami) and Brandy Sims (Dennis). Adored Gramps of Kersten (Austin), Natalie (Nick), Matthew (Chloe), Sabrina, and Payton. Treasured Great Gramps of Paul, Isabelle, Lucas, and Henry. Dear brother-in-law of Warren, Betty, Lillian, and Marianne. He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth (nee Dawson) and Frank Spissell and siblings Connie, Lois, Donald, Norma, and brothers-in-law James, George, and Lee. He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved Chihuahua "Maggie."

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, March 21 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home-(Woodbury Location) 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Funeral Service at 3:00PM. Interment will be at a later date with military honors.
